1. Date: August 24, 2024 (Sat.)

2. Sessions: Morning session: 10:00 ~ 12:30 & Afternoon session: 14:00 ~ 16:30

Each student only needs to participate in one session, and the test sessions are arranged by the Language Center.

3. Venues: The venues and sessions will be announced on the website of the Language Center

by 16:00, August 21 (Wed.).

4. Testees:

1. All freshmen (four-year freshmen of the 113 academic year) are required to take the test, but those who are eligible for an exemption shall apply for the exemption beforehand.

(2) Sophomore, junior and senior students (only for transfer students and those who have not taken the Freshman English Placement Test before).

5. Registration:

1. Freshman students do not need to register for the test. The Language Center will make all the arrangements.
2. Sophomore, junior and senior students are required to register for the test on the website of the Language Center. The registration period is from August 1 (Thu.) to August 5 (Mon.).

Late registration will not be accepted.

6. Exemption from the Freshman English Placement Test:

Freshmen who have taken an official English examination before entering NTUST, e.g. TOEIC, GEPT, IELTS, TOEFL, BULATS, and Cambridge Main Suite and have a paper copy of the score report

with a score equivalent to or higher than CEFR B1 (550 for TOEIC) can apply for an exemption from the Freshman English Placement Test on the website of the Language Center.

★Remarks:

1. For further information, go to the News & Events section of the Language Center website (Route: Homepage of the University of Science and Technology → Organization → Language Center →News & Events). Late application will not be accepted.
2. Those who pass the initial review shall go to the Language Center from September 16 to September 20 with an original and a photocopy of the English score report (or certificate), in order to complete the final review.

(3) Applicants who do not apply for the exemption for the English Placement Test, who do not take the test, or who do not complete the review process of the exemption of the test will NOT be able to take or waive any English courses.

※Important Notes:

1. The Freshman English Placement Test takes place before school begins. The test results are used to determine students’ English proficiency level for the three class modules.
2. The students who have not taken the test, those who have not applied for the exemption, or those who have applied but failed the review within the prescribed periods will NOT be able to take or waive any English courses.
