[Important Announcement] 2025-2026 English Placement Test for Incoming Students 📌 Please find the link below to apply for a make-up exam or an exemption.
1. Exam Date:August 24, 2025 (Sunday)
2. Exam Sessions:
- (1) Morning Session: 10:00–12:30; Afternoon Session: 14:00–16:30
- (2) Each student is required to attend only one session, which will be assigned by the Language Center.
3. Exam Location:
Will be announced on the Language Center’s website at 16:00 on August 20.
4. Eligibility:
- (1) All incoming freshmen (4-year program, academic year 2025) are required to take this placement test. Students eligible for exemption must apply according to the regulations (see Point 6).
- (2) Sophomores or above (limited to those who entered before academic year 2018 or after academic year 2022, and who have not taken the English placement test as new students, including transfer students).
5. Registration Time and Location:
- (1) Freshmen do not need to register individually; arrangements will be made by the Language Center.
- (2) Sophomores or above must register individually on the Language Center’s website. Registration period: August 1–August 5. Late applications will not be accepted.
6. Application for Exemption from the English Placement Test:
Incoming freshmen who have obtained an official English proficiency test score equivalent to CEFR level B1 before admission (e.g., TOEIC 550, GEPT Intermediate, IELTS 4.0, etc.) may apply for exemption. Accepted tests include:
- TOEIC (must include photo and QR code)
- GEPT (score report required)
- IELTS
- TOEFL
- Linguaskill Business
- Cambridge Main Suite

Important Notes:
- Approved exemption lists will be published under “Latest News” on the Language Center website. Please check the results within the deadline and complete all follow-up steps accordingly.
(Path: NTUST Homepage → Administrative Units → Language Center → Latest News) - Students who pass the online review must bring the original and a photocopy of the matching test score or certificate to the Language Center for document verification between September 15 and 19.
- Failure to complete the document verification will be regarded as not having taken the placement test. Students who neither take the exam nor apply for exemption will not be eligible to enroll in any English course or apply for English course credit waivers.

Important Reminders for Examinees:
- This English Placement Test is conducted before the start of the semester and will determine the appropriate English course module for each student.
- Students who fail to take the test, do not apply for exemption, or fail the exemption review will not be w granted a waiver for English course credits.
